Draw the Line: turn guesses into insight

Most charts kick off with a conclusion, but Draw the Line begins with a question. You present a time series, conceal the final part, and invite your audience to sketch what they believe comes next.

When they hit Reveal, the story unfolds in the gap between what they expect and what actually is. That “oh—wait” moment is powerful, making this chart so much more engaging than a typical line chart.

How it works

All you need is a time column and a values column. Flourish displays the line up to a point you choose,  then lets your audience continue: they draw the rest, reveal the real data, and see instantly how close they were.

You can even tailor the message they see based on how accurate their guess was, making this a truly personal (and very engaging) experience.

When to use it
