As a loyal reader of the Ueno newsletter, you probably know by now that our love for money is only exceeded by our love for the design community. In that spirit we just did LevelUp, a pro bono project with Heather Phillips and Designer Fund.

LevelUp is a super useful tool to assess how your design team is doing, and to help everybody on it improve. It's targeted at design managers, but hey, don't let that stop you.

You can take it

Remember a couple of weeks ago when we released The Interview? No? It's an inside look at the sausage factory that is Ueno, and a sneaky way to make lots of really great people want to work with us. (It's working.)

Our Creative Technologist, Julien Renau, one of the people behind this devious plot, just wrote about it on our blog.

Are you wondering why we haven't liked your tweets recently? Well, our CEO has been very busy and important, that's why. But that's all going to change now that he's got himself an executive assistant. Lutzka — pictured below on a recent trip to IKEA — is amazing! Check out her blog, her site, and her Instagram. And we'll tell you more about her. Over lunch when you're working here. So click the link.

We have a job for you

AJ, a designer in Fresno, CA, wrote us: “I'm looking to transition into product design from graphic design. I just wanted to ask what do you all look for in a Product Designer?”

Sasha Lubomirsky Head of Product Design, SF

Hey AJ. Transition to product design, eh? Cool beans. What sparked your interest in that transition? And what aspect of graphic design have you focused on to date? //Waits patiently for your reply The wait is over

Hello. Jim from Ueno's Department of Standards & Practices here. It's come to my attention that silliness has been rampant in this here small print over the past few months. We've had a lot of complaints, and I'm here to put a stop to all that. [Burps] So I'm personally making sure absolutely nothing stupid makes it's way into the small print of this twentieth edition of the Ueno newsletter. [Farts]
