For Really Good Emails Users

You use RGE to find great emails. Here's what this means for you.

The short version

RGE is still free, submitting and browsing emails to the gallery is still free, and your saved collections are still yours. The big news is that you now also have access to a full email creation environment — RGE Studio — as part of the same experience.

You are not being charged for browsing and saving emails on Really Good Emails as you've always done. Nothing is being taken away. If anything, your ability to act on the inspiration you find just got a lot greater.

The free experience

Will I still be able to browse emails for free?

Yes. The RGE gallery — thousands of curated real emails from real brands — remains free and open. No paywall or login required to browse, but you will still need a profile if you choose to collect emails that you find on the site or want to add emails from your inbox to your library.

Will my saved collections still be there?

Yes. All your saved collections and favorites are intact.

Do I now need to pay to use RGE?

Browsing, saving, and collecting emails on RGE is still free. RGE Studio — the creation environment — has a free tier as well as paid plans. But accessing the gallery for inspiration does not require a paid RGE Studio account.

What is Studio, exactly?

What even is 'RGE Studio'?

RGE Studio is the creation side of Really Good Emails — a full email and landing page production suite. Think of it this way: RGE has always been where you find inspiration. RGE Studio is where you can now act on that inspiration and build something. The tagline says it well: from inspiration to confident creation.

What does RGE Studio actually do?

RGE Studio is a full email and landing page creation environment. You can build emails from scratch, start from a template, or adapt one from a library of professionally designed starting points. The editor handles everything from layout and design to copy and brand assets, and lets you collaborate with teammates, collect feedback, and get to a final approved email without bouncing between tools.

New with this launch, RGE Studio also includes AI Co-Pilot (Beta): give it a brief or a prompt and it generates a structured email draft you can start editing immediately. It is designed to get you past the blank page faster, not to make creative decisions for you. Every choice stays with you.

I just want to look at emails. Do I have to use the builder too?

Not at all. RGE Studio is there when you want it. The inspiration experience works independently.

Is RGE Studio forced on me, or is it optional?

Optional. Using it is your choice. You can continue using RGE purely as an inspiration resource.

If I decide to try RGE Studio, will I be automatically charged for it?

No. You have access to a free tier of RGE Studio, and you are not enrolled in a paid subscription. Upgrading to a paid plan is a separate, explicit choice you can make if you find value in it.

Your account

Will my password still work after the transition?

It depends on your situation.

If you only have an RGE account and no RGE Studio account, your current password carries over as-is. Nothing changes, no action needed.

If you have both an RGE account and a Beefree/RGE Studio account, you'll log in going forward with your Beefree/RGE Studio password. If you don't remember it, you can reset it anytime through the standard forgot password flow on the login page.

Is my RGE account the same as a Studio account?

No new account needed. Your RGE account is now unified with RGE Studio — the same login gives you access to both the inspiration gallery and the creation environment. You will be asked to accept the updated Terms of Service the first time you log in, reflecting the expanded product.

I have an RGE account — will it automatically give me access to Studio?

Yes. Your existing account will include access to a free tier of RGE Studio, with the option to upgrade at any time for more individual and team features. You will find a new call-to-action in RGE that takes you into Studio when you are ready to build.

What if I don't want a Studio account? Can I keep using RGE as-is?

Yes. You can continue using RGE for inspiration without engaging with Studio at all.

Privacy & legal

Will my RGE browsing data or saved collections be shared with the Studio side?

Your data is not shared with third parties. As RGE Studio now lives within the RGE ecosystem, your activity may inform features like personalized recommendations to make the product more useful for you. Full details are in the updated Terms of Service.

Are my email address and profile now associated with a paid product I didn't sign up for?

Your account gives you access to a free tier of RGE Studio. You have not been enrolled in a paid subscription and you will not be charged. Upgrading to a paid plan is a separate, explicit step you initiate yourself.

I'm an RGE user. Why do I need to accept new Terms of Service?

As part of the transition, the Terms of Service for Really Good Emails (Inspiration) and Beefree App (now RGE Studio) have been unified into a single document. Because your account now also includes access to RGE Studio, the Terms of Service need to reflect both services. Note: you will not be charged for RGE Studio access automatically. Upgrading to a paid plan is a separate, explicit step.

I only want to browse the email gallery. Do I still need to accept?

Yes. The acceptance step is required at your first login after the transition, as the Terms now cover the full RGE ecosystem (Inspiration and Studio). However, accepting the Terms does not obligate you to use RGE Studio, and it does not enroll you in any paid subscription.

What terms will actually apply to me if I only use RGE Inspiration?

The unified Terms are structured in sections, and the applicable conditions depend on the services you use. If you only browse the email gallery and manage saved collections, only the Inspiration-related sections will apply to your use. You are not bound by terms governing features or services you do not access.

For the RGE Community

For newsletter readers, Unspam attendees, and everyone who cares what happens to RGE.

The short version

We know this community holds RGE to a high standard — and you should. These answers are written in that spirit: honest, direct, and without spin. If you have a question that isn't answered here, ask. We mean that.

Independence & editorial integrity

Is RGE still going to be independent and honest, or is it now a marketing channel for a product?

RGE's editorial independence is the whole point. If we compromised it, we would undermine the very thing that makes this transition valuable. The trust this community has built over more than a decade — the credibility, the curation standards, the honest voice — is not something we are willing to trade for short-term product marketing. That trust is the asset. We intend to protect it.

The decision to move Beefree under the RGE brand — rather than the other way around — is itself a signal. We did not merge RGE into a product. We moved the product into RGE's world. That choice reflects where we believe the value and credibility actually live.

Will email curation still be unbiased? Will RGE Studio emails get preferential placement in the gallery?

No preferential placement. The gallery has always been curated based on quality — real emails from real brands, selected for what they teach and what they show. That standard does not change.

Will the editorial voice change?

No. The voice, the opinions, the willingness to say what is working and what is not in email — that stays.

Who's running RGE? Is the original team still involved?

No changes there. Part of the original team, with Mike Nelson and Matt Helbig, remains deeply involved as a central voice driving the RGE Studio project from the start. The team behind the product and community you know is the same team that has helped the OGs make RGE even better since its acquisition by Beefree, two years ago.

Community events & assets

What happens to Unspam? Is it still happening?

Unspam continues. One of the explicit goals of this transition (and one of the key goals of the acquisition of Really Good Emails by Beefree in 2024) is to put more resources behind the community — events, content, and connections. This transition is an investment in RGE, not a wind-down. Notably, Unspam is one of the first places the community will hear about what is new.

Will the annual Email Design Survey and Email Awards continue?

Yes. These continue. Not only are they analyses that we can do as an agnostic organization, but the trends and information will help us shape new features in the RGE ecosystem.

Is the RGE website going to turn into a product landing page?

No. The RGE website remains the gallery, the community hub, and the editorial resource it has always been. You'll find a new section for RGE Studio, to give you all the information you might need on the builder.

The bigger picture

Why did RGE 'sell out' to a builder company?

We hear the concern behind the question, and it is fair. Here is the honest answer: Beefree acquired Really Good Emails because it believed the RGE community and the email professionals who need a powerful builder are the same people — and that keeping them in separate worlds was leaving value on the table for everyone. The direction here is not "make RGE serve the product." It is "build a product worthy of the RGE community." That is a distinction worth holding us to.

What does "inspiration to confident creation" mean in practice? Will the gallery start looking like a sales funnel?

"From inspiration to confident creation" describes the full journey — from the moment you spot an email you love on RGE to the moment you send something you're proud of. That means acting on inspiration directly: use an email as a starting point, adapt the structure, apply your brand, collaborate, run QA, get approvals, and export — without breaking the flow. This isn't fully available yet, but we're building toward it because that's where the real value lies for email makers.

Is this the beginning of the end for RGE as a community resource?

We believe the opposite. RGE has grown its email list to over 250,000 people with limited investment. This transition is the first time significant resources are being dedicated specifically to growing that community. A thriving RGE community is the whole strategy.

Practical questions

Do I need to create an RGE Studio account to keep using RGE?

No. You can continue using RGE for inspiration without touching Studio. If you already have an RGE account, logging in will also give you access to Studio's free tier — but you are under no obligation to use it.

If I'm an email professional, is RGE Studio actually useful for me, or is this just a bundle I didn't ask for?

That depends on your workflow — and we respect that you get to decide. What RGE Studio offers is the ability to go from finding an email you admire on RGE to building something based on it, in the same environment, without exporting screenshots or rebuilding from scratch. There is also a new AI Co-Pilot (Beta) that can help you get from a brief to a first draft faster — assistive, not autonomous. If those gaps have ever frustrated you, RGE Studio is built for exactly that. If your current tools already handle it, you are not losing anything by ignoring RGE Studio.

Will there be discounts or early access for the RGE community?

Details on community offers are being finalized. The RGE community will hear about them first — through the newsletter and at events — before any wider announcement.
